To Bake or Not to Bake?

Today is my last Parent Teacher conference for my high school senior. Where did that time go? We've been experiencing a lot of "lasts" with him this year, and this is just one more in the list. It is all a little bitter-sweet, but I'm not too broken up over it. Yet. I'm so excited for him to experience all the amazing things in college - I can't hardly wait!

My afternoon has been spent baking. I love to bake. LOVE. IT! I find it relaxing, and also a way to be creative. I love how mixing the different ingredients together causes something yummy, and wonderful to come out of the oven. Today I created a pound cake, and also some cookie dough brownies. They will all go off to church tomorrow for the Wednesday night meal. THAT is one of the best parts, too. I can make it - enjoy that process - and then send them out the door.

It occurred to me that since I enjoy baking and moving it out of the house that maybe I should start my own baking business at home. The thought has not left my mind for a couple of days. I have NO idea what the process would be to make that happen. I have looked online a bit, and it gets overwhelming fast - all the regulations and rules that have to be followed to be licensed for that sort of thing. I just want to bake something and share it. Getting paid to do it would be a terrific bonus!

I don't want to do cakes, though. I have one cake that I really like to make - and people love it. But, my focus is more on the cookie bar type of thing. A couple of weeks ago I made several treats to take up to the church for another Wednesday night meal. There were "gooey butter bars", "slutty brownies", "red velvet cheesecake brownies", and "smore's brownies". All of them were consumed. Quickly. I get a little buzz from that, too. Weird, I know.

I can see myself making things for the busy individual who has to take something sweet to work, or to a teacher as a gift, or even for graduation parties. Not big catered events - just the individual one time treat thing. Or maybe someone just has a craving for a pan of Fudge Jumbles, and they ask me to make a pan. Can do! hee hee
