Busy but Satisfying

The last couple of days have been the usual busy around here. No complaints, just trying to keep my head above water.

Friday. I did my usual Jazzercise routine in the early morning. My sweetie usually goes with me. It is good to have someone in the house that you work out with - 'cuz it makes it harder to skip! Got the kids all off to school, and then the hubby also left to go to the Nebraska Bowhunters Convention in Kearney. He was pretty excited to go, too.

That left just me and the kids for the weekend. Friday night the oldest had plans of his own to go attend to. The youngest had a friend's house to go do a sleepover, and that left me and my middle child. What to do, what to do? I asked her if she had ever seen "The Notebook" before. She hadn't. So, I asked around from some friends since we don't actually own that movie. Found a friend to borrow from, and we were set. A girl's night in. Cookie dough was made - and enjoyed by at least one of us. (ok, I had a couple of bites, too) When "The Notebook" was done, we decided to watch "Notting Hill" as the chaser. All in all, a very good night to be home together.

This morning I did some extra time on the treadmill to try and compensate for the bites of cookie dough. Then it was off to Jazzercise solo. On the way to Jazzercise I dropped off my middle child for her speech meet that happened today. She has ups and downs with her speech enjoyment, but I am glad that she is doing it.

I thought I was going to have a meeting for soccer parents this morning, but it was pushed back to this afternoon. That gave me some extra time. What I did with that extra time was go hunting for "carb check" bagels. What are those? Well, it is something that I have used in this weight loss process, and now I find out that they are going to be discontinued by the company that makes them. Seems they are having difficulty finding all the ingredients needed. Bummer! I hit a couple of stores that carry them, and purchased some extras to stock my freezer. For one bagel I can get about 140 - 150 calories, and also a bunch of protein and some great fiber. Worth the hunt to find those.

My oldest was at home working on scholarship applications. I don't' know that he was super excited to be working on those, but I was happy to know that he was doing that. I know we have missed the deadline date for a few of them, so he was keeping his mother happy by putting out some strong effort this morning. Yea! Once I got the youngest home from her sleepover, we did lunch (bagel for me, poached eggs for them) and then she and I were off to the Century Link Center downtown to participate in the Kids Against Hunger Million Meals event.

We worked in our group of 12 to package meals that will be used both in the USA and abroad to feel hungry children. Pretty cool to be a part of that. I don't know how many meals we actually packed, but we ran out of bags. Twice. That was a good feeling.

The oldest one had a social gathering to go to after his soccer practice. So, the younger one and I enjoyed an evening at home together. She wanted a "Red Velvet Cream Cheese Ball" to eat. I made her eat some supper first, and then she got to enjoy that for her dessert. Dangerous to have that around the house when a person is trying to maintain! (or to keep calories down for Lent - Yikes!)

The middle child got home about 7:30 from her speech event at Crete, NE. Gretna got 5th place overall. Hooray. At some point I hope to go hear these speeches that I have heard her talk so much about. Darling Hubby is still at the NBC, and from the text and pictures I have received he is having a great time with his friends. I'm soon to head to bed myself. It has been a busy but satisfying weekend. Looking forward to tomorrow - just because it is Sunday. I wonder what the day will bring?
